what is thirty seconds
It’s a theory that isn’t very new…that life flashes before our eyes…but with a quantifiable unit of time attached to it. God…that is so lame! (Why the hell do bloggers always try to sound so deep?)
Look…I have this idea that when we die we’ll look back on our lives and it’s going to be all of :30 seconds. I use it as a compass…compare my decisions and actions and desires against it. I want to look back and think, “Yep…that was a well-lived life.” I don’t want regrets…I want fulfillment. (There I go again. I want to be happy, OK?)
So who am I to talk?
I’ve been living in the cancer world for the past 3 years. My wife has stage iv breast cancer (which means incurable) and I took it very hard. Not manly. Baby-ly. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone…but here we are and I’ve been learning more than my fair share along the way. Thirty Seconds comes from this experience…and try as I might…I haven’t found a way to debunk my theory. (Want proof? Exactly how long did the last year take? Yeah…I know…a year…smartass. No…it was a blink…and it’s gone. See?)
Each post is designed to be read in about :30 Seconds. If it’s longer it’s because I got caught up in listening to my own hack lecture. (Again…bloggers…yikes! We’re almost like those guys that re-enact Civil War battles. We’re just a little bit “off” once in a while.)
